Rycote has been manufacturing modular windbreaks, called Zeppelins, since 1969. They are the best way to suppress disturbing wind noise when filming outdoors. Indoors, only a flexible handle or pole mount can be used, while outdoors a basic wind protection – a shell – is used; in stronger winds, a fur is put on top of the shell. This combination guarantees the highest possible protection against disturbing wind noise, generated by air movement around the microphone inlets.
